Center plans success seminars
First of 10 sessions to consider testing, study skills

The Counseling Center on NE Campus is sponsoring a series of Success Workshops.

Test Your Best/Study Skills, the first seminar in the series of 10, will be Thursday, Sept. 19, 12:30-1:50 p.m. in CAB 112.

Presented by Dave Brownlie and Peggy Erving, the seminar will focus on study skills, effective reading of textbooks, note-taking skills, and test preparation.

The presenters also will help students deal with test-taking strategies and will offer suggestions on how to utilize support resources on the campus.

The seminar series was not always as large, according to David Brownlie, academic advisor on NE Campus.

The demand for the seminar series grew last year, and more sessions were added during the last spring semester to accommodate the student body.

Subtract Fear, Multiply Confidence will follow in the series. It will be held Tuesday, Oct. 1, 12:30–1:50 p.m. in ATB 236.

The seminar will focus on building a positive attitude toward math and will be presented by Richard Vela and Carolina Saleh, academic advisors.

The series will continue through the end of October and will cover various subjects from HIV and AIDS, Wednesday, Oct. 2, to Degree Planning/Transferring Made Easy, Thursday, Oct. 24, and Tuesday, Oct. 29.

For more information on these or any of the upcoming seminars, contact the NE Campus counseling center at 817-515-6661 or at www.tccd.net/campus_ne/counseling.
