Summer classes out to sea

The Semester at Sea program has added a summer session to its regular fall and spring lineup.

Summer sessions sail from Vancouver, B.C., June 17 and return to Seattle Aug. 21. Ports of call will include Sitka, Alaska; Vladivostock, Russia; Pusan, Korea; Shanghai, China; Hanoi, Vietnam; Keelung, Taiwan, and Osaka, Japan.

Port visits range from three to five days, allowing students the opportunity to travel independently or stay with families in those countries.

Semester at Sea students also participate in a worldwide donation project assisting those in need. Students work with several charitable organizations.

Accredited by the University of Pittsburgh, the program offers more than 40 classes, fully transferable to the studentÕs home institution.

Tuition costs range from $9,000-$10,000 including room and board. Financial aid, scholarships and work-study program are available. A GPA of 2.75 is required to be considered for the shipboard study.
