Seminars emphasize survival
The NE counseling center is sponsoring College 101: Survival Workshops, free seminars for students, Sept. 11-Oct. 29.
Counselors will present 10 different workshops, starting with Exploring Careers and Majors Wednesday, Sept. 12, 12:30-1:50 p.m. in CAB 112 and Wednesday, September 19, 12:30-1:40 p.m. in the Student Center Galley. David Brownlie and Amos McCluney will help students decide on their tentative career goals and college plans during this career exploration workshop.
Susie Carranza will help students find more time for themselves, their studies and their friends in Time Out! The workshop, scheduled for Thursday, Sept. 13, 12:30-1:20 p.m. in the Student Center Galley and Tuesday, Sept. 18, 6-7:30 p.m. in Student Center 111, will offer tips on communication as well as time management
Subtract Fear, Multiply Confi-dence is designed to help students overcome math anxiety and develop a more positive attitude toward the subject. Richard Vela and Carolina Saleh will conduct this session Monday, Sept. 17, 12:30-1:40 p.m. and Tuesday, Oct. 16, 6-7 p.m., both in ATB 236.
Anita Peters will present Is It Love?, a session that offers tools for identifying that elusive emotion. Her one-time-only presentation is scheduled Tuesday, Sept. 18, 9:30-10:50 a.m. in CAB 112.
Workshops scheduled for later in the semester, some presented twice, include Getting the Most Out of a College Lecture, Test Your Best, Degree Planning, Anger Management, Journey Through the Shadows and Is Just Saying No All Its Cracked Up to Be? Help!
