Scholarship available from tourism group
The National Tourism Foundation (NTF) will award more than $140,000 in scholarship money for the fall 2002 semester.
The 35 scholarships are open to students majoring in any travel or tourism field.
Students must be enrolled full time at a two- or four-year college or university and entering their junior or senior year.
In addition to those requirements, applicants need a minimum 3.0 GPA.
Students must submit two letters of recommendation, a resume, a transcript and an essay (see application for topics).
The Foundation also offers internships and grants.
The Patrick Murphy Internship gives students the opportunity to work with Jim Santini, a former congressman and current NTF legislative counsel.
The National Tourism Association Award is given to an individual who is currently working in the travel and tourism industry and continuing his or her education.
In addition to the general requirements, for those with a physical or sensory disability, the foundation will award the Yellow Ribbon Scholarship.
Most scholarship winners will also receive membership in the NTF and an all-expense paid trip to its annual convention.
NTF supports education and research that benefits the field of travel and tourism.
