Trustees schedule May election
by Chris Taylor, editor in chief

With the May 4 election looming, five people have filed to run for the TCC Board of Trustees.

Districts 1, 2 and 3 are open for the Friday, May 4, elections.

Robyn Winnett is running for District 1, and Dr. Ardis Bell and Nicholas Nance are running for District 2.

Long-time board member William Demarest is not seeking re-election, so two newcomers are vying for his District 3 seat.
Kristin Vandergriff and Jose Gonzales are running for the vacant seat.

Winnett, a clinical therapist and graduate of TCJC, is running unopposed for the district 1 seat on the board.

Bell, 77, a retired doctor, the current board president and member for 37 years, is running for re-election to his District 2 seat.

Bell’s challenger, Nance, 24, is a student on NE Campus.

In the District 3 race, Kristin Vandergriff, 46, and Jose Gonzales will compete for the available seat.

Vandergriff lives in Arlington and has contributed to many community causes including the TCCD Citizen’s Advisory Redivision Committee, the Theatre Arlington Board of Directors and the Home Run Arlington Bond referendum for the City of Arlington.

Gonzales, 67, a retired social service agency director, was an adjunct professor on TCC’s NW and SE campuses.

Trustees serve six-year terms and are not paid for their services.

Early voting begins Wednesday, April 17, at the May Owen Center in room 270.
