Truth, justice American way unAmerican

Has anyone noticed that the Northern Alliance (which the United States is supporting) in Afghanistan isnt exactly that much better than the Taliban?
However, war makes you support people you normally wouldnt even associate with.
I know the feeling. I currently find myself supporting the U.S. government.
With all the patriotism floating, its amazing that we are seeing a heavy dose of political corruption.
Id trade a million flags just for some honest government.
We are taught to have Christmas spirit, and we prove it by acting like obnoxious slobs. Fights over hot Christmas items, arguments over parking places and just plain general rudeness seem to be more the rule than the exception for this time of year.
Violence in the media has become a hot topic again. Has anyone every really thought how silly it sounds to say that television and movies make people kill other people?
Self-proclaimed experts never seem to look at the fact that violent media isnt the cause but rather the effect. After doing some research, I noticed something really interesting.
See, there was violence before television, movies and video games (gasp!). Its true. I found out about this war called the Crusades, where a bunch of people died, and this all happened before the invention of television.
Amazing isnt it?
If people paid closer attention, they might notice America averages a major war about every 20 years. Maybe we ARE a violent society and, therefore, like violence in our entertainment.
What was the first reaction to the WTC attacks? Thats rightto bomb the crud out of somebody.
Plus, we punish our criminals by death penalties.
We are not exactly in a position to act innocent and blame our bloodlust on Hollywood.
But, thats exactly what we do.
Why?
Were Americans. When we dont like the truth, we either ignore it or blame it on another group.
Its the American way. The sad part is we think its the right way.
