NE Vikings win marathon team relay

Three NE Campus employees won a first place trophy in the Cowtown Marathon Corporate Team Relay Division in Fort Worth in February.

The TCC Vikings, Harold Jandreau, Anthony Luscri and Bert Torres, placed first out of 17 teams competing in the corporate division.

Their time (3:16:44) was the 17th fastest among the 190 teams entered in the seven-team relay divisions.

In its division, the Vikings finished 8 minutes ahead of the second-place team.

Jandreau ran the first 10 miles.

Torres the next 8.1 miles and Luscri the last 8.1 miles that finished in the historic Fort Worth Stockyards.

“We entered for fun, and we were very surprised to win,” Luscri said.

Jandreau was pleased with the team’s performance.

“I’ve been running for 20 years, and this is the best I’ve ever done in a big race like Cowtown,” he said.

However, Torres said the results of his team were not immediately known.

“I didn’t know we came in first until I saw the results in the Sunday paper,” he said.

The team’s trophy is currently on display in the HPE building.
