Volunteers requested

AmeriCorps is recruiting volunteers to help nonprofit organizations and public agencies improve programs for low-income individuals around the country.

Volunteers will be asked to serve as a full-time volunteer for one year at any one of a number of nonprofit organizations located across the country.

Potential volunteers should have a college degree or at least three years of work experience in order to qualify.

In exchange for a year of service, volunteers receive a living allowance, health insurance and on the job training.

Participants also receive a $4,725 education award.

The awards can be used toward further schooling or to pay off student loans.
