A look at what’s happening

    NW Campus
    Sept. 18—Diez y Seis Fiesta will be held in the Node Court from 11:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m. The celebration plans include live music performed by the band Latin Express. Student activities will provide free drinks, and food will be available at discount prices.
    
    Oct. 8—Guest speaker Victor Morales will speak at 10 a.m. in B-118. Morales made history by being the first minority U. S. Senate nominee in 1996. He will speak on civic responsibility and overcoming obstacles.

    SE Campus
    Sept. 18—Gloria Campos, Channel 8 news anchor, will speak at 1 p.m. in the Roberson Theatre. She will discuss obstacles the Hispanic community has faced and the future of the Hispanic population in the United States. She also will share her personal triumphs.

    Sept. 19—Visión Andina, a Bolivian music group, will perform at 10:40 a.m. in the Roberson Theater. The hour-long presentation will include music from ancient times played on traditional instruments by musicians in native costumes.

    NE Campus
    Sept. 12—Guest speaker Victor Morales will speak at 12:30 p.m. in the Student Center’s Center Corner. Free refreshments will be served. Following the speech, the Organization of Latin and American Students will hold its first meeting.

    South Campus
    Sept. 13—Mexican Independence Celebration will be noon-1: 30 p.m. on the SUB patio. The event will feature music, pinatas and refreshments.

    Sept. 17-30—An art exhibit will feature work by Joe DuFo in the Jenkins Garrett Library. The artist uses traditional Hispanic flavors in his modern pieces.

    Oct. 9—Victor Morales, local politician, will speak at 11 a.m. in the Recital Hall. Among his many topics, the motivational speaker discusses leadership skills and breaking down barriers.
