WIN-R artists display artwork
The Women in New Roles (WIN-R) program has collaborated with Fort Worths Circle Theater to present an art show as part of the RetroFest celebration.
The art show will be available for viewing today-Saturday, Dec. 2, at the Circle Theater, 230 W. Fourth Street, in downtown Fort Worth.
However, the art show is free and open to the public only TuesdaysFridays 15 p.m.
This collaborative event is the presentation of the art show In My Life in conjunction with the opening of The Food Chain, presented by the Circle Theater.
Thanks to Patty McCormick, fine arts department chair, for uniting WIN-R with the Circle Theater. The show would normally be shown only on the TCC South Campus, Triesha Light, WIN-R coordinator, said.
Circle Theater provided exhibit space for the art show. By doing so, they provided a wider audience for a community program that greatly deserves recognition, she said.
According to information supplied by Light, the theme of the show is based upon the song In My Life, written and released by the Beatles in the 1960s.
The artists will display a wide variety of artistic expressions looking at how places, people and the passage of time have shaped peoples lives.
The artists are former and present WIN-R students who range from professional artists to those who have never shown their work publicly before, she said.
The annual art show was created to provide a venue to celebrate womens creativity. I feel that by having the art show, it pushes them to think of themselves in new ways, she said.
Light pointed out that many women have been so busy taking care of others, they have put themselves last. Therefore, the show is a way for women to come to the forefront.
