West Coast grabs fans as World Series bats ring
by Chris Swinney, reporter

With a 9th inning 2-1 win over the Cardinals in playoffs, the Giants entered the realm of the World Series with the victorious Anaheim Angels.

For the first time in 13 years, two teams from California will face each other in the championship battle of the best—The World Series.

Game 1 started action Saturday in Anaheim at Edison Field with the Giants winning 4-3.

Sunday night’s action evened the field with the Angels winning 11-10.

Although even at press time, the match up seems to favor the Angels.

For the season, the Angels batted .282, ahead of the Giants’ .267.

The Angels scored 851 runs; the Giants follow with 783.

Although the Giants have more home runs, the Angels have proved that home runs do not always win games.

The Giants do have a stronger pitching staff, a possible back breaker for the Angels.

The season batting leader, Barry Bonds, is a key player in this series.

He is finishing a phenomenal 73-home-run season.

Some will say a World Series ring is the only piece of the puzzle missing for the veteran.

On the other hand we have the Angels’ 3rd Baseman, Troy Glaus, who has 30 homers and 111 RBIs and Garret Anderson with 123 RBIs.

These two hard knockers show the Anaheim bats can do the job.

With the statistics so close, this should be a World Series to remember.
These two underdog teams managed to take the famous Yankees and Braves out of the equation, and will fight the battle to become America’s #1 team.
