Food drive to nourish area needy
All TCC campuses helped Tarrant area food banks for the holidays.
Faculty and student organizations throughout the district donated perishable food items Nov. 5-24 during a four-campus fall food drive.
NE Professional Support Staff Association, Faculty Association and campus student organizations supported NE Campus in donations. The groups collected 961 pounds of food.
NW Campus had combined efforts from the Texas Association of Mexican American College Students and Alpha Delta Chapter of Phi Theta Kappa. Over 2,000 cans of food were collected.
South Campus collected over 6,000 pounds of food from several organizations. Those participating included the African American Student Organization, the Optimist Club, Phi Theta Kappa, Student Government, Texas Nursing Student Association and faculty and support staff.
SE Campus participants donated over a thousand pounds of food. Participants included the College Republicans, Baptist Student Ministry, Future Professions of Science and Medicine, American Civil Liberties Union, Black Legacy Student Organization, Student Ambassadors and faculty members.
Some students who donated received extra credit for their participation in feeding the hungry for the holidays.
