Grant to award monies
SE Campus recently received a $340,000 grant to award scholarships to business and technology majors over the next four years.
It is conceivable that a student could receive enough scholarship money for a full four years, Sheryl Harris, division chair of business and technology, said.
The scholarships are primarily for students on SE Campus.
However, University of Texas at Arlington was also granted a portion of the money, enabling students to continue using the scholarship money even after leaving SE Campus, Harris said.
UTA will reserve some of the scholarship money for students who declare a major with SE Campus, she said.
Computer science, English, math and science scholarships, or CSEMS, are awarded under government grants for students who major in one of the aforementioned areas of study, Harris said.
Although the grant must be used over the next four years, there are no restrictions on how many scholarships are granted each semester.
A student can receive money each semester based on financial need, grade-point-average, community service and leadership ability, Harris said.
Applications are available in SEE 220.
