Scotch Doubles bowling is the next wellness games event planned for NE Campus this month. As part of the NEW U wellness program, students, faculty, staff and administrators can participate in scotch doubles bowling Friday, Feb. 14, at 12:45 p.m. The event will be at Showplace Lanes on Airport Freeway in Euless. The new program is aimed at helping people get fit and become healthier, Dr. Joy Thetford, professor of health, physical education and recreation said. "This event is for students to come out and have fun," she said. Participants will start with one regular game of bowling, and then they will pair up and play two games of scotch doubles bowling. In Scotch doubles, one person rolls the first ball, and the partner picks up the spare. Then, the players switch positions. "We are not emphasizing winning and competition as much as we just want the students to get to know each other and have fun," Thetford said. Participants must show proof that they are involved with TCC, such as a picture ID and a schedule, Thetford said. "Everyone will receive a prize at the end of the games," she said. "However, we will have drawings for some other fun prizes. We hope that students will come out and enjoy this day with us," she said. |
