Ballet to offer program

The Fort Worth Dallas Ballet will celebrate Valentine's Day with a weekend-long presentation of Three of Hearts, a mixed-bill program, Feb. 14-16 at the Bass Performance Hall.

The repertoire features three pieces, two by George Balanchine and another by Ben Stevenson, Fort Worth Dallas Ballet artistic advisor.

The program opens with Balanchine's Donizetti Variations, a composition that pays tribute to Gaetano Donizetti's Don Sebastian, one of the 65 operas written by the 19th century composer.

Next on the bill is Stevenson's Four Last Songs, a piece that conveys the journey through life.

The selection will feature Melissa Givens, acclaimed soprano soloist. Balanchine's Who Cares?, an homage to the legendary composer and pianist George Gershwin, closes the show.

Performances are scheduled for 8 p.m. Friday, Feb. 14; 8 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 15; and 2 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 16. Ticket prices range from $15 to $86 and can be acquired through the Bass Hall box office at 817-212-4280 or online at www.basshall.com.
