Cats to open season against Coastal Bend

   The Fort Worth Cats have announced their opening games against Coastal Bend May 7.

   In a release announcing the 2003 season, Monty Clegg, Cats general manager, said, "As the top draw last season, the Cats are honored to play host to the league's new team opening day."

   The Cats led the Central Baseball League last season in attendance and have scheduled promotions to help draw crowds.

   The Cats plan one fireworks show a month, a couple of bobble-head giveaways as well as other entertainment and promotional giveaways at all games.

   Opening day will be fans' first look at the new team Coastal Bend, which will be in the Eastern division. Shreveport is also joining the Central Baseball League and will join the Cats in the Western division.
