Museum/theater form film series

The Kid Stays in the Picture kicks off an alliance between the Modern Art Museum and Magnolia Theatre to present independent films at the Fort Worth museum. Like this biopic of Hollywood producer Robert Evans, Fort Worth has not been exposed to independent films at this level in more than a decade.

The Magnolia at the Modern will show classic and foreign movies, documentaries and short subjects as well as the critically acclaimed art films that movie buffs must trek to Dallas to see.

"The art of cinema is one of the most influential forms of media of the past hundred years," Tearlach Hutcheson, overseeing the Magnolia Pictures film exhibition division, said. "The opportunity to program films in a museum of such high international acclaim as the Modern is a privilege for Magnolia Pictures."

Other February films include the racy Israeli romance Late Marriage and critically acclaimed The Fast Runner.

Showings for the Magnolia at the Modern are scheduled on Fridays at 6 and 8 p.m. and Sundays at 2 and 4 p.m. Certain times may be altered to accommodate long-running features. Tickets are $7.50, and the program begins on Friday, February 7.

Film Schedule: The Kid Stays in the Picture, Friday, Feb. 7, Sunday, Feb. 9; Late Marriage, Friday, Feb, 14, Sunday, Feb. 16; and Alias Betty, Friday, Feb, 21, Sunday, Feb. 23.
