The official day of record has passed for this semester, and final figures have been posted showing a record district-wide spring enrollment for the third year in a row. The increase is attributed to economy, officials report. The district has taken to heart the directives from the Legislature and Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board to meet the goals of Closing the Gaps and have experienced dramatic enrollment growth, according to a letter from the Texas Association of Community Colleges to Texas lawmakers. A total of 30,159 students enrolled this spring, a 10.25 percent increase from one year ago. South Campus has 7,881 students; NE Campus has 10,367 students; NW Students total 5,253, and SE has 8,373 students. The district has had record enrollments the past two springs. The highest enrollment prior to 2001 was in 1993. |
