Canedy appointed to TCC Board seat

A new trustee was appointed to serve on the TCC District Board
of Trustees at the Jan. 22 board meeting.
Randall Canedy was sworn in by Trustee Kristin
Vandergriff to replace Gary McClaskey, who is moving out of Tarrant County.
Canedy is president of the Frost Bank Mansfield
Financial Center and served as a member of the SE Campus Advisory Committee
for three years until 2001.
"I hope to perform in a manner Gary
McClaskey has done," Canedy said. "I am pleased to be associated
with the district."
Canedy, originally from Richmond, Va., has
lived in Tarrant County with his family for 25 years. He graduated from
the University of North Carolina in 1974 with a Bachelor of Arts in civil
war history and political science.
Canedy has been involved with Big Brothers
and Big Sisters, the Rotary Club of Mansfield, Mansfield ISD and the First
United Methodist Church in Mansfield.
McClaskey said he enjoyed serving on the board.
"It has been a pleasure serving our customers:
our students and the taxpayers," he said.
The board also elected Trustee Robyn Winnett
as assistant secretary.
Contracts were approved for different phases
of construction of the South Campus natatorium. Each contractor was rated
according to company's experience, workers' experience, bid price and
several other factors.
Five different contractors were chosen for
the projects of selective demolition, concrete work, masonry, mechanical/plumbing
and electrical work.
In other business, 18 faculty members were
granted tenure. Each campus president submitted a list of select faculty
members who have taught full-time a minimum of four years and are in good
standing.
Faculty members granted tenure on SE Campus
were Catherine Bottrell, assistant professor of government, and John Perkins,
associate professor of history.
South Campus tenured faculty are Andrea Christian,
assistant professor of nursing; Anthony Giardino, assistant professor
of government; Thomas Hart, assistant professor of electronics; Annis
Jones, assistant professor of nursing, and James McGaw, assistant professor
of nursing.
NE Campus teachers approved for tenure are
Carl Adams, assistant professor of mathematics, Renison Babulal, assistant
professor of health information technology; Kourosh Behzadnoori, assistant
professor of computer science; James Brooks, professor of psychology.
Also, Bonnie Creel, assistant professor of
speech; Lynn Dally, assistant professor of art/graphic communications;
Lori Fowler, associate professor of sociology; Yizeng Li, associate professor
of mathematics; Jill Pool, assistant professor of physical therapist assistant,
and Douglas Smith, associate professor of mathematics.
Linda Quinn, associate professor of physical
education and dance on NW Campus, also received tenure.
