Ceremony
to award writers
South Campus students
will be rewarded for literary achievements at the Script Awards Ceremony tonight.
The ceremony will award students whose
original work has been selected for publication in the
annual South Campus literary and art magazine, Script.
Sponsored by the English department, the
evening will celebrate the students’ work through
recognition and a monetary prize.
“ For inclusion in Script, students from
any discipline submit original writing
or art to the editors, which is then sent to separate
judges. The
judges select several pieces of writing
and art, which are published in the journal,” Dr.
Pauline Griffith, professor of English and co-editor
of Script, said.
Script has published annually since the ’70s in
the spring semester,” she said.
Several students will read their work to
the audience, and the artwork will be displayed in the
lobby of the Recital Hall of the Music Building.
The event is open to students and faculty.
There will be refreshments in the lobby
and music by Jeffrey Stone, history instructor and guitarist.
The ceremony will be April 30 at 7 p.m.
in the Recital Hall of the Music Building on South Campus.
