| TCC Speakers Bureau/Experts Guide | |
TCC’s faculty and staff are well informed and fully qualified to share their expertise on a wide variety of subjects, from yoga to convergency technology. We invite you to avail your organization of this service provided by TCC. It is one way we can, collectively as a College population, give back to the community that has always shown TCC such overwhelming support since its creation in 1965.
A list of topics can be found below, or for the full list of topics and contact names, download here. How to contact experts for Media Requests: Please call the Office of Public Relations and Marketing if you’d like an expert source for a story. The main number is (817) 515-5212.
How to Schedule a Speaker: Requests for TCC speakers may be made by telephoning the Office of Public Relations and Marketing, (817) 515-5212; by writing the Office of Public Relations and Marketing, Attn: Speakers Bureau, 1500 Houston Street, Fort Worth, Texas, 76102; or by e-mailing connie.helbing@tccd.edu. Advance notice of at least three weeks is desirable, but not mandatory. Requests should not be made more than three months in advance because of possible changes in teaching and work schedules.
During semester breaks and summer months, some speakers will not be available. When making requests, please give the following information:
- Name of organization
- Time, place and date of meeting
- Approximate size and type of audience
- Time allotted to speaker
- Title or subject of program desired
- Name and phone number of person making the request
Special programs may be prepared, providing the speaker has adequate notice. Book reviews and similar requests require preparation time.
Travel Expenses Normally, there are no charges for programs or speakers representing TCC. If unusual expenses and/or travel of significant distances are incurred, reimbursement can be made to the speaker by the engaging organization. Such details can be cleared when final arrangements are made between the speaker and contact person for the organization.
Organizations outside Tarrant County are asked to reimburse the speaker for automobile/mileage expenses. The standard is 40.5 cents per mile.
Honoraria As a general policy, honoraria are not required or expected. However, this is left to the discretion of the group, the speaker and the nature of the program provided.
Publicity The Office of Public Relations and Marketing will be happy to provide you with biographical information on speakers, if requested. News releases to local media should be prepared by the organization.
Special Events TCC can offer musical programs, presentations by international students, color slide and PowerPoint programs, student entertainers, panels, theatrical productions, and other program possibilities. In addition, the College is often able to provide judges for various Interscholastic League competitions and art shows in the schools.
