Women in New Roles (WINR)

This college credit program, available at South, Southeast and Northeast campuses, is designed to assist women who are in the transition of returning to school and provide strategies for personal and career changes. Following a semester in this program, the women branch into specialty areas with more confidence and direction.

  • Do you want confirmation for a career choice?
  • Are you a returning student who is nervous and/or scared?
  • Are you attending college for the first time or a first-generation student?
  • Have you been in college for one or two semesters and are still unsure of a major?
  • Do you want to learn how to communicate better?
  • Do you want to re-invent yourself or reposition your life?
  • Do you want to develop leadership skills?

Program Components

  • Guided practice in interviewing and resume writing
  • Associate with other women who have similar needs and interests
  • Testing, counseling, career placement, Internet orientation, and group mentoring
  • Studies in self-awareness, communication skills, both intra-and interpersonal relations for confidence building and leadership skill development
  • Networking events available through WINR Network, Women's Leadership Forum, Health Forum, Women's Symposium, Young Women's Leadership Track, Community Seminars, WINR Art Show and community outreach projects.

Course Registration

TCC admissions requirements for credit registration must be met before beginning the program. WINR orientation is available for new and returning students.WINR has no additional entrance requirements.

WINR students must register for two classes, both covered by the University Transfer Agreement:

  • PSYC 2302   Applied Psychology (blended/integrated curriculum with career work focus)
  • PSYC 2315   Psychology of Adjustment

Both classes are a part of the Associate of Arts degree and included in many Associate of Applied Science plans. Day and night classes are available.

Scholarships are available for those who qualify.
