Grades 1-8 Orientation

The responsibilities of college life are covered at orientation. In addition, parents are responsible for signing and returning the orientation policy agreement form contained in the application packet. This form states that parents have read and agree with each policy and procedure. Parents and guardians who fail to sign and return the orientation policy agreement form will not be able to enroll their children in any College for Kids 2018 program.

In-Person Orientation

A T-shirt for each student, maps, schedule and other important information will be distributed. Afterward, you may tour the campus and find your classroom locations. Please choose and attend the most convenient orientation time for parent and student.

All session are held in the Ballroom ESEC 1108

  • Wednesday, June 6, 12:30 p.m. or 5 p.m.
  • Wednesday, July 2, 12:30 p.m. or 5 p.m.

Orientation is for all new and returning students. Returning students opting not to attend the orientation will be responsible for the information shared. Read carefully the orientation information included in the students' packet.

Schedule

June 11-28, Monday – Thursday and July 9-26, Monday - Thursday

  • Two sessions:
    • Morning Session: 8–11:50 a.m.
      • Morning drop-off time is 7:45 a.m. 
      • Morning pick-up time is 12 noon
    • LUNCH: 12–1 p.m. (only students with full-day schedules)
    • Afternoon Session: 1–4:50 p.m.
      • Afternoon drop-off time is 12:45 p.m. 
      • Afternoon pick-up time is 4:50 p.m. 
    • Activity Period: 5–5:50 p.m. (optional/additional fee) in the Gym
      • Activity Period pick-up time is 6 p.m.

Pickup Locations

Early Pickup

If your student needs to be picked up before their session ends, they will be waiting at the College for Kids Information Desk in the main commons area. Picture ID is required. for safety purposes, parents are not allowed to pick up students from classrooms.

Supervised Activity Period

An additional $40 fee is to be paid at registration. Parents must sign their students out of activity periods by coming into the gym. All students should be picked up by 6 p.m. Parents who are consistently late will be charged an additional fee and your student may be asked to drop the activity period. A telephone is available to student in the CIES office if needed to contact parents.

No food or drinks are allowed in the gym. No running, LOUD talking, pushing shoving, etc.

Swimming

The swimming pool has its own rules. Lifeguards are on duty daily. You need to have your own towel and whatever else you may need to clean up with. Students must be able to swim. On the first day a swim test across the width of the pool will be given to judge ability. The guards will tell you all the pool rules and regulations. The checkout time of the pool is 5:45 p.m. in order to be out of the building by 6:00 p.m. You must observe the lifeguard’s regulations or you will not swim.
