  • Ages: New students entering grades 7–9
  • Courses: 7-week summer programs offered over 4 summers
  • 2018 dates: June 11–July 26, 2018
  • Days: Monday–Thursday
  • Time: 9 a.m.–3 p.m.
    • You can be dropped off as early as 8:30 a.m.
  • Cost: No cost
    • Fort Worth, Crowley and Everman ISDs will provide free bus transportation and lunch for each day of the program.
    • If you do not attend one of these ISDs, you can still participate, but you will need to arrange transportation. A Subway Restaurant is available on campus, or you can make other arrangements for lunch.
  • Application: Available Spring 2018
    • If you are a new student, submit a complete application.
    • If you are a returning student, submit the modified application.
  • Deadlines for applications:
    • Priority deadline for Generation Hope students: February 23, 2018
    • Regular deadline for all other students: April 27, 2018
  • Credit: Up to 4 elective high school credits (as long as you earn satisfactory grades)
    • Classified under Texas Education Agency Approved Innovative Courses–Career and Technical Education

What is TexPREP?

Earn high school credit, prepare for college and sharpen your skills in science, technology, engineering and mathematics!

TexPREP is a 7-week academic enrichment summer program we offer through a partnership with the University of Texas at San Antonio (UTSA). This intensive math-based program helps you prepare for careers in the fields of mathematics, science, technology and engineering (STEM).

  • Career awareness speakers
  • Field trips
  • Special events   

Am I eligible?

Grade Requirements

If you are in grades 6, 7 or 8:

  • 90 or better average in your current math, science and English class
  • 85 or better if you are in honors or advanced placement courses
  • Satisfactory conduct grades

If you are in grades 8, 9 or 10:

  • 85 or better average in your current math, science and English class
  • 80 or better if you are in honors or advanced placement courses
  • Satisfactory conduct grades

How to Apply

  1. Fill out an applicationavailable Spring 2018.
  2. Get 2 recommendations from:
    • A math, science or English teacher
    • A counselor
  3. Write a 200-word essay (typed or hand-written) on why you want to participate in TexPREP.
  4. Get a copy of your semester 1 report card.
  5. Submit your completed application, recommendations, essay and report card copy via email, fax or U.S. Mail to Erika Zimmermann.
    • Incomplete applications may not be considered.
