Transfer Policy

In the Paralegal Studies program, you are required to complete designated courses in order to assure the diversity of coursework.

You can transfer legal specialty and general academic courses between TCC and other Texas educational institutions governed by the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board (THECB) as long as you meet all program requirements.

All transfers of courses are governed by the guidelines established by the THECB.

Transfer Legal Specialty Courses

Legal specialty courses that are offered at Texas educational institutions and that have a Workforce Education Course Manual (WECM) number are transferable between Texas institutions.

Courses with the same name, number and course description are required to receive one-for-one credit.

All other courses are reviewed by the Program Coordinator, who determines if content and emphasis sufficiently comply with the guidelines.

Our Policy

Our College policy requires that you earn a minimum of 25 percent of all coursework for a degree or certificate in residence at TCC. This means you must complete a minimum of 12 hours in your major at TCC.

We do not offer any legal specialty courses by alternative means, which insures you fulfill the minimum of 10 hours of traditional classroom instruction.

Regarding WECM Transfer of Coursework

Current transcripts issued in Texas do not differentiate between methods of instruction for earned credits.

At TCC, the 12 hours required for your major are completed in a traditional classroom setting.

Transfer General Education Courses

All courses which carry Common Course Numbers under the Academic Course Guide Manual (ACGM) are given one-for-one credit for that same course in our institution as mandated by Texas law.

These general education courses are developed under the guidelines established by the State and must meet mandatory guidelines for content and coverage.
