What is an Occupational Skills Award (OSA)?

When you earn an OSA award, you enhance your marketability.

Employers see you have an OSA and recognize that you are are qualified for entry-level employment or industry-recognized certification or licensure.

The Pharmacy Technician program adheres to the minimum requirements set by the Texas Workforce Commission.

After Successfully Completing Our Program

You may register and directly pay for the Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) exam through your preferred certification organization:

• Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB)
• National Healthcareer Association (NHA)

Both certifications are recognized by the Texas State Board of Pharmacy (TSBP).

Licensing Notice: Texas House Bill 1508

This program prepares you for an occupational license. However, you may not be eligible for licensing if you have a prior criminal history.

Eligibility Requirements

• Minimum 18 years of age
• High school diploma or GED
• Passing score on The Adult Basic Education (TABE) test, if applicable
  • Find out how to take the TABE at TCC
• Compliance with Texas State Board of Pharmacy regulations

• Download, print, read, and fill out the application

• Gather the required supporting documents & make copies to submit with your application
  • Copy of your high school diploma, GED, or high school equivalency
  • Test score(s), if applicable
  • College transcript(s), official or unofficial, to provide proof of exemption from TSI
  • Information session exit ticket
• Email your completed application & supporting documents to TR.HealthCareAdvising@tccd.edu
• Register for class
  • Once you have been accepted, you will receive an email that will:
    • Notify you of your eligibility to enroll
    • Explain the registration/payment process
    • Give you financial aid information for continuing education
