The Employees Retirement System (ERS) offers medical insurance to benefits eligible employees.
There is a 60-day waiting period that begins the first day of the month following the employee's hire date.
HealthSelect
HealthSelect, administered by BlueCross BlueShield, is a point-of-service (POS) plan that allows employees:
- To select physicians and specialists from a network of doctors for a co-payment of
$25 or $40,
or - To go outside of the network at an increased cost.
Consumer Directed HealthSelect
Consumer Directed HealthSelect is also administered by BlueCross BlueShield.
You do not need to:
- Designate a primary care physician
- Get a referral to see a specialist
Features
- Annual Deductible: You pay the full cost of doctor visits, prescriptions and other healthcare costs until you reach the annual deductible.
- Health Savings Account (HSA): You must open an HSA with Optum Bank.
