Canvas Security Update

TCC is aware of a cybersecurity incident impacting Canvas, our student learning management system. This is a nationwide event impacting thousands of educational institutions around the world.

Here's What We Know

Instructure, the developer of the Canvas platform, has confirmed that unauthorized bad actors gained access to certain user information. The data may include names, student email addresses, and student ID numbers. Instructure is working to prevent any additional information from being accessed.

Currently, there is no evidence that passwords, financial information, social security numbers or other personally identifiable information were compromised. Canvas is not connected to TCC data sources – this breach remains isolated.  

What We're Doing

TCC’s Information Technology team is thoroughly assessing the security incident’s impact on the College community.

Canvas is currently unavailable.

We will continue to actively monitor the situation.

What You Need to Do

There is currently no action required from students, faculty or staff. We will continue to provide updates as information becomes available. As a general best practice, stay aware of phishing scams and practice online safety.
