Device Loan Program
TCC offers a limited number of loaner devices for students who qualify based on need. You may be eligible to borrow a device if you are:
- a currently enrolled student and
- eligible for Student Empowerment Center (SEC) services
For questions about the program, please contact the SEC.
How to Apply for the Device Loan Program
You can check out a device once per semester for a two-week duration. In certain emergency circumstances, an extra two-week loan period may be approved.
You may apply anytime throughout the semester. This program is also available during Summer and Minimesters.
Note: Checking out a device in the last week of the semester will shorten your loan duration. All devices must be returned by the end of the semester.
To apply for the Device Loan Program, follow the steps below:
- Apply for SEC services by filling out the Basic Needs Application.
- The SEC will contact you within 24–48 hours to let you know if you are approved for a device.
- Visit any TCC campus library to check out a device after you are approved.
- You must come in person and present your student ID.
- Return the device on or before the due date.
- You can return your device to any TCC campus library.
Responsibilities and Fines
There is no deposit or fee to borrow a device. However, late returns may result in a fee.
If the device is not returned, you may be charged the full replacement cost. You may also have a library hold placed on your account, which can prevent registration.
If a device or accessory is damaged, lost, or stolen, you may be charged for repair or replacement. Report any issues immediately to the library from which you borrowed the device.
- Damaged or unreturned device: $400
- Damaged or unreturned charger cord: $25
- Damaged or unreturned magnetic keyboard: $30
Using Your Device
The device you check out is the property of TCC. You must follow all technology use policies in Technology Resources (CR LOCAL). Failure to follow these guidelines may result in suspension of technology privileges.
All devices can connect to Wi-Fi networks, including your home Wi-Fi and mobile hotspots.
You can access necessary websites like Canvas and WebAdvisor. You may need to use the web versions of Office 365 applications.
Technical Help
If your device is not working, please return it to any TCC campus library. We can exchange it for another one, but understand that this will not extend the loan duration period.
For questions about accounts, passwords, or software issues, call Tech 24/7 Support at 817-515-8324.
