Out-of-State & Federal Licensure
Are you an out-of-state full-time peace officer or federal agent who wants to continue your law enforcement career in Texas? Our Law Enforcement Academy can help you fulfill the course requirements needed to earn your Texas peace officer license.
Texas Commission on Law Enforcement (TCOLE) Licensure Process
Out-of-state and federal officers begin the licensing process through TCOLE (opens in a new window).
TCOLE oversees the licensure process and sets all requirements for license transfer. For specific questions about the licensure process or license transfer requirements, please contact TCOLE directly.
Find the Out of State Eligibility Packet on TCOLE's Forms and Applications (opens in a new window). This packet will provide information such as:
- Eligibility
- Application instructions and forms
- Fingerprint instructions
- Necessary documents
