Am I eligible for TRIO Student Support Services?

Please read the TRIO Student Support Services (TRIO SSS) eligibility requirements below carefully.

In addition to the requirements below, you must be committed to your own education, to taking advantage of resources and services, and to regular communication with your TRIO SSS academic advisor.

If you are a student currently enrolled in both high school and TCC, you are not eligible to apply.

Primary Requirements

You are eligible to participate in a TRIO SSS program if you meet all of the following requirements:

  • Are a citizen or permanent resident of the United States, or meet the residency requirements for federal student financial assistance
  • Are enrolled at TCC or are accepted for enrollment in the next academic term at TCC
  • Would benefit from academic support, as determined by TCC, in order to successfully pursue a program of education beyond high school
  • Are one of the following:
    • Individual classified as low-income by the Federal government, or
    • First-generation college student, or
    • Individual who has a documented disability and is registered with a TCC Student Accessibility Resources (SAR) office.

Secondary Requirements

You must also meet one or more of the following requirements.

You must:

  • Currently attend, or be accepted and plan to attend, either the South Campus or the Trinity River Campus, and/or
  • Have demonstrated the ability to graduate or transfer within 4 years.
