TCC offers dental hygiene continuing education (CE) courses for registered dental hygienists and dental hygiene students who want to advance their professional skills.

These courses build knowledge and hands-on skills in preventive dental care, reinforce the role of dental hygienists in today’s clinical settings, and help participants earn or renew certifications while staying up to date in the field.

DNTA-1003 Registered Dental Assistant Exam Review

This course helps dental assistants meet Texas State Board of Dental Examiners (TSBDE) exam requirements. Prepare to get the Registered Dental Assistant credential required by the TSBDE. A comprehensive review of radiology, infection control, and jurisprudence will be presented.

  • Friday: TSBDE certification exam at noon–3 p.m.

Class Format

This week-long course is online, with 13 instruction modules. The modules include discussion boards, short answer essays, and quizzes.

Course Requirements

To pass this course and earn credit, you must:

  • Submit and pass all assignments and quizzes, and
  • Complete the comprehensive TSBDE certification exam with a minimum score of 70%

After meeting these requirements, you will receive a course completion certificate to include with your TSBDE application.

DNTA-1071 Intro to Orthodontic Assistant Course

Course Description

This course is for dental professionals looking for foundational knowledge and practical skills in orthodontic assisting.

Explore the key principles of orthodontics, treatment phases, and patient care. You will gain hands-on experience in orthodontic procedures. Topics covered in this course include:

This course focuses on clinical skills, patient communication, and professional collaboration.

DNTA-2000 Coronal Polishing Certificate Course

This course provides in-depth training in Coronal Polishing to meet the Texas State Board of Dental Examiners (TSBDE) requirements.

Each qualified faculty member instructs no more than 5 students. This makes sure instruction is individualized and hands-on in line with Commission on Dental Accreditation (CODA) requirements.

You will get a course Certificate of Completion once all course goals have been met and verified by the instructor.

DNTA-2000 DANB CDA/NELDA Exam Review

Course Description

This week-long online course prepares you for either Dental Assisting National Board (DANB) exam:

  • Certified Dental Assistant (CDA) 
  • National Entry Level Dental Assistant (NELDA) certification

The course follows the latest DANB exam outlines and reflects current best practices in dental assisting.

CDA Certification Exam

This review focuses on three required components exams:

  • Infection Control (ICE)
  • Radiation Health and Safety (RHS)
  • General chairside assisting

In this course, you will take part in lessons, group study sessions, and practice exams. Review and reinforce their knowledge of key dental assisting competencies:

  • safe and effective patient care
  • regulatory compliance
  • chairside procedures
  • digital radiography techniques
  • sterilization protocols
  • clinical decision making
NELDA Certification Exam

This review focuses on three required components exams:

  • Anatomy, Morphology, and Physiology (AMP)
  • Infection Control (ICE)
  • Radiation Health and Safety (RHS)

You will build basic knowledge and hands-on skills that meet national dental assisting standards and prepare you for entry-level jobs. You’ll also join interactive review sessions, answer practice questions, and learn test-taking strategies.

DNTA-2000 Nitrous Oxide Course & Exam

This course prepares dental assistants and dental hygienists for nitrous oxide monitoring certification required by the Texas State Board of Dental Examiners (TSBDE). You will review current guidelines and industry standards for nitrous oxide conscious sedation.

To apply for nitrous oxide monitoring certification, you must hold a current dental hygiene (DHY) license or registered dental assistant (RDA) registration.

This course provides in-depth training in Pit and Fissure Sealants to meet the Texas State Board of Dental Examiners (TSBDE) requirements.

Each qualified faculty member instructs no more than 5 students. This makes sure instruction is individualized and hands-on in line with Commission on Dental Accreditation (CODA) requirements.

You will get a course Certificate of Completion and copies of the Lab/Clinic Evaluations once all course goals have been met and verified by the instructor.
