How to Register for Classes

Beginning March 1, 2021, you can find upcoming courses and register for them through the Student Planning area of MyTCCTrack.

Online registration is unavailable during the following times:

  • Monday–Friday: 2 a.m. to 5 a.m.
  • Saturday and Sunday: 1 a.m. to 6 a.m.

How do I register for classes?

To register for classes,

  1. Log in to MyTCCTrack.
  2. Go to Student Planning.
  3. Go to View Your Progress.
  4. Find a course in your degree plan.
  5. Select the course name (Ex: ENGL 1301) to view available sections.
  6. Use the filters to help narrow down your search.
  7. Select Add Section to Schedule.
    • A pop-up window will appear with additional course section details.
    • Note: You are not yet enrolled at this step.
  8. After reviewing the pop-up information, if this is still the section you want to add, select Add Section. If you wish to continue searching for another section, select
  9. Repeat as needed until you're ready to register.

When you're ready to register,

  1. Find the graduation cap icon and go to Student Planning > Plan & Schedule.
  2. Review your schedule.
  3. Select Register Now.
  4. After you've registered, pay for your classes to complete enrollment.

How do I filter courses or campuses for Summer 2021?

From the course catalog page, you can use the filters to narrow your selection to courses with available seats. You will want to select the term, then open sections only.

Under the course you want to register for, you will see "View Available Sections." Click on this link to view sections that are available for registration.

Choosing a Campus for Summer 2021 Courses

Summer 2021 courses will be offered predominantly online, and the campus filter cannot be used.

You must use the first digit in the section number to determine which campus the class is based. Example: ENGL 1301 10000.

  • South: 1
  • Northeast: 2
  • Northwest: 3
  • Southeast: 4
  • Trinity River: 5
  • TCC Connect: 8

What is a synchronous or asynchronous course?

There are three options for taking classes at TCC:

  • Asynchronous: Online where the instructor and students are not working together at specific time.
  • Synchronous: Online with the instructor working in real time with students at listed times; all sessions are recorded to meet alternative scheduling demands.
  • Lecture or Laboratory: Face-to-face classes or labs with specific meeting times on a campus.

What if I registered for a course but it's not showing up on my Student Planning calendar?

If you signed up for an asynchronous class (one without a specific meeting date/time), it will not show on your Student Planning Schedule.

Instead, it will show at the end of your schedule.

What if I need help registering for classes?

Contact our Admissions and Registrar Office if you need help registering for classes.

What if it won't let me register for a class?

A notification should appear that indicates potential reasons why you are unable to enroll.

Common challenges are:

  • You did not select all the courses recommended by your academic advisor. Some of them are mandatory, so the system might not let you enroll if you do not have them included.
  • You are trying to enroll in a course that you have not met the prerequisite for.
  • One of the courses you selected is already full.

If these are not the case, please contact an academic advisor.

To speed the service, please have ready:

  1. A screenshot of the notification that states what is wrong
  2. A screenshot of your courses with the section number and dates and times offered
  3. Your TCC ID number with saved in the title of both screenshots

What if I haven't taken classes in over a year?

If you haven't taken classes at TCC in over a year and can't log in to your account, you'll need to complete the TCCD Account Recovery form.

What if I need to take to take a class not listed in my degree plan, like NSOR, STSC, or a developmental class?

If you know you need to take a class that isn't showing up in your degree plan, go to the Course Catalog in MyTCCTrack and use the Search for courses box. Register for the course by following the register for classes instructions.

Common courses that aren't listed on degree plans but may be required include:

  • NSOR (New Student Orientation)
  • STSC 0111
  • INRW 0090

How do I register for a co-requisite class?

Co-requisite classes let you take a college level credit at the same time you are in a developmental course. An example of this is enrolling in ENGL 1301 and INRW 0399. Your academic advisor will inform you if you need a co-requisite course.

To register for a co-requisite (such as ENGL 1301 and INRW 0399),

  1. Log in to MyTCCTrack.
  2. Go to the Course Catalog.
  3. To add the developmental course, type INRW 0399 in the search box.
    • Make sure you're using the Search for courses… box, not the Type a subject
  4. Use the filters to narrow your selection.
  5. Select View available sections to review sections that are available for registration.
  6. When you've found the class want to register for, select Add Section to Schedule.
  7. After reviewing the pop-up information, if this is still the section you want to add, select Add Section. If you wish to continue searching for another section, select
  8. To add the companion course (ENGL 1301), go to the graduation cap and select Student Planning > Plan & Schedule. This will take you to the calendar view page.
  9. Under the course title INRW 0399, there should be a box that says you must also take ENGL 1301 with section number.
  10. Click this box to find the ENGL course section that is taught with the INRW 0399.
  11. Select Add Section to Schedule.
  12. Find the graduation cap icon and go to Student Planning > Plan & Schedule.
  13. Review your schedule.
  14. Select Register Now.
  15. After you've registered, pay for your classes to complete enrollment.

How do I know if I have to take a prerequisite for a class?

Some courses require a previous course--at times with a specific grade--to be able to take them.

Once you have selected the course you desire, read the description of the course. It should state if a prerequisite is required. Information about prerequisites will include one of the following:

  • Required Prerequisite: This course must be taken and passed before being able to enroll in the selected course.
  • Recommended Prerequisite: It's suggested you take this course but it's not mandatory to be able to enroll in your selected course.

What if the class I want to take is full?

You can put yourself on a waitlist for some class sections. Learn more about joining a class waitlist.

Do I need to take the Online Readiness assessment?

Classes offered through TCC Connect Campus (listed in WebAdvisor as CN) require you to complete the Online Readiness assessment before you can register. Take the Online Readiness assessment if you have never taken an online course at TCC or if you have taken an online course but did not receive a grade of C or better.

New TCC Students: We strongly recommend that you wait until the application process is complete before taking Online Readiness.

What if I need to repeat a class?

You can repeat classes, but learn how repeating a class can impact your financial aid and GPA.

What if I want to take a class for fun?

You can register to audit a class or sign up for one of our Community Education & Engagement courses.

How do I register for dual credit classes?

Register for classes online in MyTCCTrack. You may also view our dual credit registration video and follow along while you register.

To build your schedule,

  1. Log in to MyTCCTrack.
  2. Select the graduation cap icon on the left of the screen, and then choose Dual Credit Course Search.
  3. Select your High School (Example: Colleyville/Heritage HS).
  4. The course catalog with the available courses for your high school will populate. You can filter by selecting Term (Example: Fall/Spring 20XX), and Open Sections Only to filter your section results.
    • If you know the specific section number (Example: ENGL 1301 12345), you can type it into the search box at the top right of the screen.
  5. Click on View Available Sections for one of the courses listed for your high school and review results. (course rubric – Example: ENGL – 2323 see below)
    1. Select Add Section to Schedule to select the preferred section.
    2. A pop-up window will appear with additional course section details. Review section details, then if correct, select Add Section.
    3. Note: You are not yet enrolled at this step.
    4. If you wish to continue searching for another section, select Close.
  6. Repeat as needed until you're ready to register.

To complete your registration,

  1. Find the graduation cap icon and go to Student Planning > Plan & Schedule.
  2. Use the small arrows next to the term (Example: Fall/Spring 20XX), if you need to scroll to the correct semester.
  3. Review your schedule and any registration error messages, in the top right corner of the screen.
  4. Select Register Now. Once your registration is successful, the word Registered should appear under the course title.
