Adult Education and Literacy Enrollment

Enroll in our free Adult Education Literacy (AEL) Program to be able to take the following classes:

Get Started

Step 1: Complete the AEL interest form

Complete the AEL interest form.

Step 2: Speak with an intake specialist

An intake specialist will contact you, guide you through the entire process, and inform you of the documentation you will need for orientation.

What will I need to have ready for my appointment?

19-year-old and older students:
  • A valid picture ID*
  • Proof of TANF (If applicable)
17 or 18-year-old students:
  • A valid picture ID*
  • A completed parent signature/verification
  • A self-attestation stating that you are not enrolled or attending school at this time and are unable to obtain a signature from the home school
  • Withdrawal form from the last school attended or high school completion information
  • A parent or legal guardian must be present
16-year-old students:
  • All of the above from the17 or 18-year-old student group
  • Court order to attend HSE/GED® program

*(government issued picture ID with birthday. It may be U.S. or foreign driver’s license, state ID, passport, visa, military ID, matricula consular, etc

Step 3: Complete and submit the AEL enrollment forms

You may complete the AEL enrollment forms at home or at your orientation session. Make sure to click on each tab of the enrollment forms.

Step 4: Attend Orientation and Complete CASAS

Orientation

During your orientation session the orientation and testing team will assist you with:

  • Registering for classes
  • Completing DocuSign
  • Completing additional AEL paperwork for program

Note: You will not be able to sign up for a class until you complete both orientation and testing.

CASAS Testing

The CASAS test is used to determine a person's skill level and aptitude. The CASAS tests your knowledge of math (with and without a calculator), reading, and language.

After your after you complete your assessment, your scores will be sent to your instructor and then your instructor will go over the scores with you.
