What is the Language Pathway Program (LPP)?

This program helps you build the English language skills you need to be successful in your college studies in the U.S.

You will take both developmental and credit English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) courses to prepare for a Student Exchange and Visitor (SEVP)-certified degree program.

Not Just Courses

This program will also give you time to adjust to the United States and its academic system.

You will also get to know American culture. We offer activities outside of regular classes where you will meet other people and speak English. Sometimes you will spend time with native speakers, too.

Plus, you will study with a diverse community of students.

Am I eligible?

You are eligible if:

  • You want to apply for admission as a first-time-in-college F1 student at TCC, but your score on the internet-based TOEFL is between 30 and 70, or your score on IELTS (overall band) is between 3 and 5
  • You were accepted to TCC as an F1 student, but you didn’t pass the reading and / or writing portions of the Texas Success Initiative Assessment 2.0 (TSIA2)

You are not eligible if you:

  • Have passed the reading and / or writing portions of the TSI-A

What English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) courses will I take?

About Our ESOL Courses

After you take a placement test, we look at your scores and place you in the best ESOL courses for your language level.

These ESOL courses will help you build the skills and confidence you need to succeed in college credit courses.

Our instructors focus on improving your English through practice in 4 ESOL skills:

  • Listening & Speaking (Oral Communication)
  • Reading & Vocabulary
  • Writing
  • Grammar

Each skill has lower advanced, middle advanced, and upper advanced levels to meet your needs.

We offer ESOL courses during the long fall and spring semesters as well as during the shorter summer sessions.

Please note that we offer only face-to-face ESOL courses. We do not currently offer online ESOL courses.
