Academic English: ESOL
Choose ESOL if you:
- Are a non-native English speaker
- Want to improve your Academic English skills
- Want to practice your vocabulary and pronunciation
Our ESOL courses will help you:

- Prepare to take credit courses at TCC and in the future
After successfully completing the ESOL courses, you will be ready to take college-credit courses.

How do I register for ESOL classes?
Follow these steps:
- Visit the Center for English Language Learners (CELL) on your campus
- Take a placement test
- You can enroll in the ESOL program by:
- Making the minimum score on a placement test
or - Successfully completing Level 3 of Pre-Academic ESL or Levels 4 or 5 of Workforce ESL (See ESL for course details) with another placement test to see which ESOL course is best for you at that time
- Making the minimum score on a placement test
- You can enroll in the ESOL program by:
- Meet again with an ESOL advisor to review your test results
- Fill out a TCC application: How to Apply for Admission
- Attend required orientation sessions
- Register for classes
TOEFL Exam Prep
This course covers strategies and techniques to prepare you for the TOEFL exam. Topics include reading and listening comprehension, structure, written expression, and vocabulary. Textbook is required. Look for course number ESLX-3350 in MyTCCTrack.
Student Accessibility Resources
If you have a qualifying disability (as defined in Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act and the Americans with Disabilities Act), you can register with the Student Accessibility Resources (SAR) for accommodations at TCC.
