About Our Classes

TCC law Enforcement AcademyOur Law Enforcement Academy, located at the Public Safety Training Center at TCC Northwest in Fort Worth, prepares a cadet for a career in law enforcement.

Classes consist of a combination of classroom and skills training.

Schedule

We offer 6 basic academies a year:

  • Days: Monday through Friday
  • Time: 7:30 a.m.–4:30 p.m.
  • Length: 22-week period

I’m applying as an:

  • Agency registering cadets: If you are already employed at a police agency in North Texas, you can complete coursework for our Associate of Applied Science Degree in Criminal Justice. Register cadets from your agency using our online TCC Law Enforcement Academy Calendar.
  • Independent candidate: If you are not currently employed at a police agency, follow our instructions on How to Apply to the Law Enforcement Academy.
  • In-service trainee: If you are an officer looking for on-site continuing education training, follow our instructions to register for Law Enforcement In-Service Training or Firearms In-Service Courses.
  • Out-of-state or federal agent: If you are already a full-time peace officer or federal agent, learn how to continue your career in Texas. We can help you fulfill course requirements to earn Texas licensure. Explore our offered courses on Out-of-State and Federal Licensure.

Earn a Certificate of Completion

Once cadets complete our program, they will take the Texas Commission on Law Enforcement (TCOLE) Basic Peace Officer Licensing Exam at our testing center.

The TCOLE report on the Basic Peace Officer Licensing Examination pass rate for Fiscal Years 2021 to 2023 states that 238 cadets from the TCC Law Enforcement Academy achieved a 100% pass rate!
