Financial Aid FAQs

Financial aid disbursements are calculated based on your TCC eligible active academic program and enrollment level for the semester. Federal regulations require TCC students to be in an eligible TCC academic program to receive financial aid.

What TCC programs are eligible for financial aid?

You must declare a degree/certificate program to be eligible for financial aid.

Eligible programs include:

  • All TCC academic programs
  • Most TCC certificate programs that are at least 16 credit hours in length

Exceptions

Recently approved certificate programs may be ineligible until TCC receives federal approval.

Why do I need to declare a academic program?

Financial aid is only available for students who are pursuing a academic program and/or eligible certificate program at TCC.

Your declared academic program should:

  • Be current, with a catalog year no older than four years old,
    and
  • Have an anticipated completion date within the next two years.

Contact Student Financial Aid Services before making an academic program update, as changes can impact your current financial aid.

How do I update my academic program?

Before changing your academic program, visit with your career advisor. They can help you understand the best pathway for you and can also help you understand differences in the catalog years you may qualify for in the same academic program.

Your academic program can be changed in one of three ways:

  1. Your advisor may be able to submit a program change for you
  2. You can log on to Hello!TCC and select Change My Academic Program; complete and submit the online form
  3. You can visit a campus Admissions and Registrar Office to request a change

Note: Most students can only have 1 active program for any term. Check MyTCCTrack to ensure your new program is active (allow 1-3 business days for the change to be visible). Also remember to monitor your my.tccd.edu email for any messages about your request.

What if I have questions about choosing my academic program or classes?

Career advisors are available for face-to-face, phone, or remote virtual appointments. You may schedule an appointment or walk in to see an advisor.
