How to Apply to Diagnostic Medical Sonography

Fall Admission

  • March 1: Application deadline for fall admission
    • No late applications accepted.
  • April: Applicants notified of their status

Follow these steps to apply to Diagnostic Medical Sonography

  1. Apply to TCC.
    • Once you are accepted as a student at TCC, you will get a TCC Student ID number. You need a TCC Student ID number for your application to Diagnostic Medical Sonography.
  2. Attend an Information Session.
  3. Make sure you are eligible to apply to our program.
  4. Get current official transcripts from all colleges and schools you have attended.
    • You will need to submit your official college transcripts to the TCC Registrar.
    • If you have not attended college or if you will have fewer than 12 college semester hours by the application deadline, you will need to submit your official high school transcript(s).
    • International students: Contact International Admissions (817-515-1570) at least 8 weeks before the application deadline to schedule an appointment if you have international transcripts.
  5. Take required admissions exams before applying to Diagnostic Medical Sonography.
    • Health Education Systems, Inc. (HESI) Admission Exam
      • Exception: If you already have a degree in Radiologic Technology, and you are applying for the Advanced Technical Certificate, you do not need to take the HESI A2. You must have a degree in:
        • Radiologic Technology
        • Nuclear Medicine
        • Radiation Therapy
    • If English is not your first language:
  6. Submit your Diagnostic Medical Sonography Application by March 1.
    • Submit by mail or in person your:
      • Signed, complete application
      • Application checklist
      • Immunization records
      • Information Session Certificate of Attendance
    • Our address:

    • No late applications will be accepted.
  7. Find out the status of your application.
    • We will email you to let you know if your application was: 
      • Selected to continue with an interview
        • You will participate in a formal interview with a panel of program faculty and representatives from our clinical affiliates.
        • We will send you an appointment time with instructions of what to expect and how to prepare for the interview.
      • Declined
        • You will receive the general reason for the decision.
        • There is no wait list.
          • You must reapply the following application period if you are not accepted into the program.
  8. Find out your status after the interview.
    • Accepted: You will receive a letter of acceptance into the program.
    • Alternate: You will be given the opportunity to be on the alternate list.
