The TCC Foundation (TCCF) offers a variety of scholarships funded by generous donors. These opportunities help with tuition, books and other educational expenses. TCC Department Scholarships

Academic program scholarships are also available, each with specific award criteria. These awards usually require a specific major.

Birdville Scholarship

The Birdville ISD (BISD) Scholarship supports recent BISD graduates pursuing academic excellence. In partnership with BISD, this award ensures tuition for 2 consecutive semesters.

Mary I. Gourley Scholarship

The Mary I. Gourley Scholarship offers financial support to non-traditional students as they complete higher education degree programs.

This scholarship uses the following criteria for consideration:

• Receive a recommendation from your campus director of Student Financial Aid Services.
• Have completed 24 credit hours with a 3.0 cumulative GPA,
• Are enrolled full-time in your program of study,
• Demonstrate financial need,
• Are heads of households with families,
• Are experiencing a medical condition and added expenses for yourself or family members, or have other expenses such as child/dependent care, and

Stars of Tomorrow Program

Stars of Tomorrow provides graduating public, private, or home-schooled Tarrant County high school students with financial assistance if:

• You graduate within the top half of your class, and
• Your family is at, or under, $120,000 in income.

This award offers up to $1,000 in value per semester if you're eligible.

T3 Last Dollar Scholarship

The Tarrant To and Through (T3) Partnership provides eligible students with a "last dollar" tuition-free scholarship to TCC.

The scholarship provides:

• Costs for up to 8 consecutive semesters (excluding summer) or the completion of a certificate or associate degree
• Any remaining tuition costs after all PELL and/or other federal, state, or institutional aid has been applied

Tarrant County College Book Scholarship

The Tarrant County College Book Scholarship provides a $500 per semester award.

To be eligible, you must:

• Enroll in 6 hours minimum,
• Have at least a 2.50 GPA,
• Demonstrate financial need, and
• An Student Aid Index (SAI) greater than $4,401.

Third-Party Scholarships

Private organizations, including businesses, churches, civic groups and clubs, also make scholarships available to deserving students. Check with your local library and private organizations for scholarships.

Sending Third-Party Scholarship Checks to TCC

If you received a scholarship check from a third-party, follow the steps to send the scholarship check to TCC.

Educational Aide Exemption

The Educational Aide Exemption (EAE) is a state program for students who currently work for a school district and need financial help. The program helps these students prepare to become qualified teachers.

If awarded, you do not have to pay tuition or certain required fees. You may also be exempt from Student Teaching.

Funding is limited, and completed applications are considered in the order received.

Eligibility

• Be a resident of Texas. See residency requirements.
• Be registered for the Selective Service (opens in a new tab) or be exempt from this requirement.
• Demonstrate financial need.
• Meet requirements for Satisfactory Academic Progress Standards.
• Work for a public school district or open-enrollment charter school in Texas during the full term for which you receive the award.
• Have previously worked for a public school district in Texas. Your job must have involved working directly with the students in a classroom on a full-time basis as:
  • An Educational Aide for at least one school year of the past five school years before you receive your first exemption, or
  • A substitute teacher for 180 days of the past five school years before you receive your first exemption.
• Be enrolled in courses required for teacher certification in one or more areas with a critical shortage of teachers at public schools in Texas (opens in a new tab) in accordance with Texas Administrative Code Section 13.472(e)(6) (opens in a new tab).

How to Apply

1. Review eligibility requirements  and  Frequently Asked Questions (PDF) (opens in a new tab)
2. Submit your  Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) (opens in a new tab), or Texas Application for State Financial Aid (TASFA) (PDF)Listen (opens in a new tab) as early as possible after October 1. Complete all subsequent action items.
3. Complete the Educational Aide Exemption application (PDF)Listen (opens in a new tab).
   • Submit the completed form to Student Financial Aid Services every semester that you plan to enroll in.

Discontinuation of Eligibility

Under TEC Section 54.014 (opens in a new tab), you may not continue this exemption if you have been enrolled in more than 90 credit hours. Additionally, these hours must be earned:

• Exclusively by examination;
• For a course credit received toward the student’s high school academic requirements;
• For developmental courses that the institution required the student to take under TEC Section 51.336 (opens in a new tab)

Hardship Provisions

Under TAC Section 13.464 (opens in a new tab), if you experience a hardship and become ineligible for the exemption, you can request TCC to conduct a review by submitting a Financial Aid Appeal Request or Financial Aid Timeframe Appeal.

Hardship conditions may include, but are not limited to:

• A severe illness or other debilitating condition that affects your academic performance.
• An indication that you are the sole caregiver for a sick, injured, or incapacitated person which has affected your academic performance.
• A student’s active duty or other service in the United States armed forces, or active duty in the Texas National Guard.
• The birth of a child or placement of a child with you for adoption or foster care, that may affect your academic performance.

State of Texas Nursing Students Scholarship Program

The State of Texas Nursing Students Scholarship Program promotes healthcare and educational needs by providing scholarships to eligible Texas residents enrolled/accepted into the Associate of Applied Science in Nursing or the Certificate of Licensed Vocational Nursing programs.

To qualify for this scholarship, you must:

• Be a resident of Texas
• Be registered with Selective Service, or be exempt
• Be enrolled for a minimum of 6 college credit hours for the semester
• Have made satisfactory academic progress (SAP) in accordance with your institution’s financial aid academic progress requirements.
• Show financial need

You must not have attempted more than 45 hours of college credits.

You can receive this scholarship for subsequent years if you have not attempted over 75 college credits.

The scholarship is contingent upon the availability of state funds and will be canceled in the event state funds are no longer available.
